ACT-Wazalendo parliamentary candidate for Kilosa constituency, Hassan Thabiti Mbaruku, has pledged to end persistent conflicts between farmers and herders if elected in the October 29, 2025 General Election.
Mr Mbaruku made the promise yesterday in Dar es Salaam, shortly after receiving his party’s 2025/26 manifesto at ACT-Wazalendo headquarters in Magomeni.
He described the clashes, which have been recurring for decades, as one of the major obstacles to socio-economic development in the constituency.
“Kilosa has faced numerous challenges, but our party’s manifesto offers clear solutions. With political will and effective implementation, we can address these problems,” Mr Mbaruku told reporters.
He said his plan includes pushing the government to designate specific land for both farmers and herders to minimise competition over resources.
According to him, grazing areas for livestock and farmland for cultivation would provide a practical and lasting solution to the disputes.
Beyond land-use challenges, Mr Mbaruku outlined other priorities for the constituency. He said he would advocate for upgrading Kilosa District Hospital and transforming ward dispensaries into health centres, as well as promoting industrial investments to create jobs for young people and add value to agricultural produce.
On infrastructure, the candidate highlighted the need for improved feeder roads and drainage systems, while in the education sector, he pledged to push for reforms that would reduce unnecessary contributions at primary and secondary schools.
Presenting himself as part of a new generation of leaders, Mr Mbaruku said he is committed to transforming Kilosa by addressing long-standing issues that have held back growth.
