The government, through the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, has pledged to strengthen collaboration with NMB Bank to implement priority initiatives for the livestock and fisheries sectors in 2025/2026, aiming to drive economic transformation in the country.
The commitment was made by the Ministry’s Secretary-General, Ms. Agnes Meena, on September 26, 2025, during a meeting at her office in Mtumba, Dodoma, where she received the NMB leadership.
The meeting focused on introducing the bank’s management to the Ministry and presenting strategies by NMB to support growth in the livestock and fisheries sectors.
“I assure you of our strong cooperation, NMB, to work together in all activities within the livestock and fisheries sectors,” Ms. Meena said.
During the discussions, Ms. Meena highlighted four priority areas for collaboration: increasing production, marketing, and value addition of livestock and fish products; strengthening protection and sustainable management of livestock and fisheries resources; promoting investment in both sectors; and enhancing research, training, and extension services.
NMB’s Head of Government Services, Ms. Vicky Bishubo, commended the Secretary-General for her dedication and leadership in advancing the livestock and fisheries sectors.
She also highlighted the bank’s achievements, including supporting livestock auctions and cooperative groups of farmers, which have enabled farmers to effectively implement sectoral activities for national benefit.
The Ministry and NMB’s strengthened partnership is expected to accelerate growth in livestock and fisheries, creating more opportunities for farmers and investors while contributing to Tanzania’s economic transformation.
