Samia vows to transform Kilosa, Gairo and Kongwa with roads, water and jobs

KILOSA – CCM presidential candidate Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan fired up campaign crowds in Kilosa, Gairo and Kongwa, urging voters to back her in the October 2025 General Election as she unveiled bold promises for roads, water, schools and jobs.

In Kilosa, she pledged to complete the Kilosa–Ulaya–Mikumi road within five years and turn the Standard Gauge Railway corridor into a powerhouse of trade and investment with new factories and warehouses.

She assured residents that water projects will be expanded and land disputes solved fairly.

Over the past four years, she said, the government reclaimed more than 53,000 hectares of idle farms and redistributed 21,872 hectares for farming, housing and investment, benefitting over 8,500 people.

She told the rally that farmer–herder clashes will be reduced through the "Tutunzane" program, which is being extended to Kilosa, and by expanding grazing land from 3.46 million to 6 million hectares by 2030.

She vowed to maintain farm subsidies, finish the Idete Dam, and equip extension officers with modern tools. A modern market will also be built in Kilosa to support small traders.

Gairo

In Gairo, Dr. Samia hailed residents for their development spirit and promised a “next level” of growth. She said several roads will be tarmacked, including Rubeho–Kisitwi, Taboteli–Kitange, Chakwale–Mtumbatu and Chakwale–Leshata, while the Gairo–Nongwe road will be completed.

She announced plans for five new health centres and 10 dispensaries, as well as the completion of Gairo VETA College to equip young people with job skills.

She said four new abattoirs, a large market at Lubeho and a modern bus terminal will transform Gairo’s economy.

Kongwa

At Kibaigwa in Kongwa, Dr. Samia reminded voters of her first-term record. She cited a TSh 2.3 billion VETA College, 14 new health centres, and a TSh 4.5 billion emergency unit at the district hospital with modern equipment.

She said every village in Kongwa now has electricity, and the government will connect every hamlet and household in the next phase. A new substation is already serving Kongwa, Gairo and Mpwapwa.

She also pointed to 61 new wells and promised full clean water coverage.

Tarmac roads have grown from 3.7 kilometres in 2021 to 11.7 kilometres in 2025, and the Mtanana Valley road will be upgraded to stop floods.

On farming and livestock, she pledged to strengthen 10 livestock markets, 35 dip tanks and four abattoirs.

A modern truck parking yard is also being built to support the growing grain trade. More schools and vocational centres will follow to serve the growing population.
