Public servants urged to invest in homes before retirement

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy, Engineer Felchesmi Mramba, has called on public servants to make early financial plans, including building their own homes before retirement, to ensure stability and security in later life.

Addressing ministry staff in Dodoma on August 20, 2025, Mramba said workers should take advantage of loan products and other facilities offered by financial institutions to strengthen their economic standing.

“Make use of the credit opportunities available to build your lives early. Do not wait until retirement to start thinking about constructing a home,” he said.

He also reminded staff to uphold the principles of public service by observing discipline, professionalism, and integrity while avoiding corrupt practices.

Mramba further emphasized the need to safeguard government property such as computers and office equipment, noting that these were procured at a high cost to facilitate service delivery.

“The government spends significantly to ensure the availability of work tools for public servants. It is our responsibility to value and use them productively,” he added.

Ministry staff praised the Permanent Secretary for his approachable leadership style and for addressing challenges facing employees, a move they said has strengthened morale and accountability in the workplace.

The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Permanent Secretary, Dr. James Peter, heads of departments and units, as well as officials from other government institutions.
