Nyembera calls for cooperation from boxing stakeholders

The newly appointed Chairman of the Tanzania Professional Boxing Commission (TPBRC), Patrick Nyembera, has urged all boxing stakeholders to work together to restore the sport to its former glory.

His call follows the appointment of the commission’s Transitional Committee by the Minister of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Prof. Palamagamba Kabudi.

Speaking after his appointment, Nyembera said he and his committee are fully committed to carrying out the directives within the 90-day timeframe set by the ministry.

“Our committee will focus on making the necessary reforms to elevate boxing to a higher level. I thank God and my team, and we are grateful to the government for entrusting us with the responsibility of managing professional boxing. We are ready to deliver,” Nyembera said.

The new committee takes over after the term of the previous committee ended. According to the Ministry’s statement issued on August 14, Prof. Kabudi has given the committee until October 29 starting from July 29 to complete constitutional amendments and organize general elections for the commission.

Other members of the committee include Jackobu Mbuya as Vice-Chairman, Gordon Nsajigwa as Secretary, and Shafii Dauda, Irene Mwasanga, and Ibrahim Abbas Kamwe as committee members.
