Dar es Salaam’s internationally acclaimed supermodel, Miriam Odemba, has unveiled a compelling new book that dives deep into the art and passion behind Tanzania’s vibrant fashion scene. The launch wasn’t just a book release — it was a celebration of creativity, culture, and community, showcasing the best of Tanzanian style on a runway elevated to international standards.
Miriam, whose globe-spanning career has made her a beacon for aspiring models and designers, shares insider secrets and empowering stories that invite a new generation to dream bigger and bolder.
“Fashion is my love and legacy. This book holds the keys to success in beauty and style, a true treasure for our nation,” Miriam declares with heartfelt passion.
The event, dubbed “Sauti ya Mitindo” (Voice of Fashion), drew a dynamic mix of Tanzania’s fashion veterans and rising stars, sparking important conversations on how the industry can grow sustainably and inclusively.
Notably, BASATA’s Executive Secretary, Kedmond Mapana, praised Miriam’s relentless efforts in elevating Tanzania’s fashion footprint globally, promising exciting initiatives to be unveiled soon.
A moving highlight of the evening was 11-year-old Sofia’s tearful tribute to Miriam — a touching reminder of the power fashion holds to transform lives. Sofia’s presence was made possible by Miriam’s generous spirit, after the young fan’s modest means threatened to keep her away.
The runway dazzled with 13 models showcasing stunning collections from Tanzania’s elite fashion houses, including Anna Collection’s master trainers and the celebrated design studios Hamisa Mobetto Stylish and Mike Stylish.
Adding to the event’s prestige was the involvement of young talents from Dar es Salaam’s Salvation Army, who opened the show with a spirited runway walk on a stage that now proudly holds international acclaim.
Miriam Odemba’s launch isn’t just a milestone — it’s a movement, redefining Tanzanian fashion’s future with style, heart, and unwavering vision.
