The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a transparent and fair electoral process as Tanzania heads toward the October 2025 General Election.
On August 30, 2025, the Director of Elections, Mr. Kailima Ramadhani, met with representatives of political parties to review the ongoing campaign program and agreed on minor adjustments to the schedules for presidential and vice-presidential rallies.
Campaigns began on August 28 and will continue until October 28 on the Mainland and October 27 in Zanzibar.
The meetings, Mr. Ramadhani noted, are part of INEC’s efforts to maintain open dialogue with stakeholders, safeguard equal opportunity for all candidates, and prevent conflicts in campaign planning.
The presidential, parliamentary, and councillorship elections for Mainland Tanzania will be held on October 29, 2025, marking a crucial step in the country’s democratic journey.
