The government has taken a significant step to rally national support for the Taifa Stars by purchasing 10,000 match tickets valued at TZS 20 million for today’s African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 fixture against Madagascar.
The highly anticipated encounter will take place at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports and Government Spokesperson, Mr. Gerson Msigwa, confirmed the ticket acquisition during a media briefing in Dar es Salaam.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to creating an electrifying home atmosphere to spur the national team’s success.
“The government urges all football fans and supporters to turn out in large numbers to back Taifa Stars as they strive to maintain their strong run in the CHAN tournament,” Mr. Msigwa said.
The government’s intervention aims to ease access for fans eager to witness the national team’s performance firsthand, reinforcing the collective spirit that has become a hallmark of Tanzanian football.
Taifa Stars have shown promising form in CHAN 2024, and the home crowd’s support will be critical as they face Madagascar in this crucial group stage match.
