Senegal has claimed third place at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), which concludes tomorrow in Kenya.
The West African side secured the bronze medal after defeating Sudan 4-2 in a penalty shootout, following a 1-1 draw in regulation time.
Sudan took an early lead in the 6th minute through Mohamed Teya. The goal remained until the 39th minute, and the first half ended with Sudan leading 1-0.
In the second half, both teams struggled to find the back of the net, but Senegal finally equalized in the 58th minute through Ndiaye Ndiaye. The score remained 1-1 through the end of normal time.
The match was then decided by penalties, where Senegal emerged victorious 4-2 to claim third place.
The 2024 CHAN champion will be determined tomorrow as Morocco takes on Madagascar in the final, set to be played in Kenya.
