Thousands of citizens are expected to benefit from various services at the Second Muharram Financial and Social Services Expo 2025, officially launched today at Mnazi Mmoja grounds in Dar es Salaam.
The event coincides with the beginning of the Islamic New Year 1447 Hijri, and carries the theme “Show You Care for the Community, Provide Services, Spread Peace,” providing a special platform for the community to receive education and innovative services free from interest.
Speaking at the launch, the representative of the Supreme Council of Islamic Communities and Institutions (BARAZA KUU), Sheikh Mohammed Issa, said the expo is a unique platform to educate the public about alternatives to financial services, focusing on Shari’ah principles.
“We provide education about VICOBA, SACCOS, halal investment funds, interest-free bonds (Sukuk), and legitimate company shares. The goal is to empower people to be financially independent without breaking their religious beliefs,” said Sheikh Mohammed Issa.
Besides financial matters, citizens also receive health services, including various disease screenings, safe blood donations, waqf services, and legal assistance from expert lawyers.
To ensure the health and safety of all visitors, organizers have allocated an ambulance to handle any emergencies that may arise at the venue.
Additionally, citizens have the opportunity to enroll in higher education through an Online University system, as well as purchase various books related to religion, society, and economics.
According to the schedule, the expo will also feature lectures and seminars by various experts covering topics such as: The Effects of Interest, Halal Insurance Services, Opportunities in Islamic Investment, and The Importance of Asset Allocation in Waqf.
The Minister of Industry and Trade, Hon. Selemani Jafo, is expected to be the official guest of honor for the expo, which is set to run for seven days from July 18 to July 24, 2025.
