Minister for Finance, Dr Mwigulu Nchemba, has praised the role of youth-focused sports initiatives in nurturing future athletes, as he officiated the third anniversary of the Kilimanjaro Wonders Sports Centre (KWSC) held in Moshi, Kilimanjaro Region.

Speaking during the event at the Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU) grounds, Dr Nchemba applauded organisers and sponsors for their commitment to supporting government efforts in developing sports talent across the country.

“I commend the KWSC team and its partners, including Kili Icon, for this important initiative that identifies and develops sports talent. You are contributing to the government’s goal of raising a generation of capable athletes and empowering young people economically,” said Dr Nchemba.

He noted that the government remains committed to creating a conducive environment for nurturing sports talent, both locally and internationally, as part of wider youth development and economic inclusion strategies.

The celebration was attended by Kilimanjaro Regional Commissioner Nurdin Babu, Moshi District Commissioner Godfrey Mnzava, KWSC Director Lauren Kinabo, government officials, players from Tanzanian Premier League teams and international clubs, students, and residents.

KWSC has positioned itself as a hub for sports development in northern Tanzania, offering young people a platform to grow their talent and pursue opportunities in professional sports.
