The much-anticipated finals of the CRDB Taifa Cup basketball tournament will take place today at Chinangali Grounds in Dodoma, where new national champions in both the men’s and women’s categories will be crowned.
Four teams two from each category will compete for the coveted titles after an intense week of thrilling performances.
In the men’s final, Dar es Salaam will go head-to-head with Mara in a match scheduled for 8:00 p.m., while in the women’s final, Dar es Salaam will take on Arusha at 5:00 p.m.
Dar es Salaam's men's team secured their spot in the final after a dominant 73–53 victory over Mtwara in the semi-finals. Mara advanced after a closely contested 78–74 win against hosts Dodoma.
In the women’s semi-final, Dar es Salaam cruised to a commanding 172–58 win over Dodoma, setting up an exciting final clash with Arusha.
Speaking ahead of the final matches, Tanzania Basketball Federation (TBF) Communications Officer Mary Arthur confirmed that all preparations were complete, promising fans an evening filled with competitive action and entertainment.
“We are fully prepared, and we expect a highly competitive and entertaining final. This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for to crown the 2025 CRDB Taifa Cup champions,” she said.
She also extended an open invitation to basketball fans in and around Dodoma to turn out in large numbers to support their teams and enjoy the showcase of talent.
“I encourage all sports enthusiasts to come and witness top-level basketball and discover the immense talent our regions have to offer,” Mary added.
This year’s edition of the CRDB Taifa Cup has not only highlighted regional basketball strength but has also showcased the growing popularity and competitiveness of the sport across Tanzania.
