Kigoma and Arusha win openers at CRDB Taifa cup

Kigoma and Arusha got off to strong starts as the CRDB Taifa Cup basketball tournament officially tipped off on Monday, June 24, at Chinangali Grounds in Dodoma.

In the opening men’s fixture, Kigoma edged out Iringa in a thrilling 82–76 victory, showcasing their intent early in the national championship.

On the women’s side, Mara struggled to find their rhythm, succumbing to a 64–43 defeat in their tournament opener.

Action continues today, Tuesday, June 25, with nine matches on the schedule, promising another exciting day of basketball.

In the men’s division, Lindi are set to face Morogoro, followed by Mara taking on Pwani. Other key clashes include Kilimanjaro vs. Shinyanga, Simiyu vs. Mwanza, and hosts Dodoma up against Manyara.

In the women’s category, Mtwara will go head-to-head with Tabora, Mbeya will square off with Dar es Salaam, while Kilimanjaro are set to meet Kigoma.

The CRDB Taifa Cup, which brings together regional teams from across Tanzania, continues to grow as a platform for nurturing emerging talent and promoting competitive basketball across the nation.
