Tanzania Premier League giants Simba SC are gearing up for a crucial quarterfinal match in the CRDB Federation Cup against Mbeya City, set to take place tomorrow at the KMC Complex Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
This encounter comes just days after Simba secured a spot in the semifinals of the CAF Confederation Cup, boosting the team’s morale as they switch focus to domestic silverware.
On the other side, Mbeya City are fighting to return to top-flight football, with their main goal being promotion to the NBC Tanzania Premier League next season.
Simba’s Assistant Coach Selemani Matola has stressed the importance of this quarterfinal tie, revealing that the club is treating it with the intensity of a final.
Matola said the team is determined to go all the way and avoid a repeat of their previous elimination in the tournament.
“This match is very important to us. We’ve turned our full attention to the CRDB Cup now that we’ve finished our international assignment,” said Matola.
“We are treating this game like a final because we don’t want to be knocked out again. We’ve prepared seriously and we are fully focused on getting a win.”
Matola acknowledged the threat posed by Mbeya City, noting that their progression to the quarterfinals was no stroke of luck. According to him, Simba is fully aware of the challenges ahead and will approach the game with the necessary caution.
“Mbeya City deserves to be here. They’ve worked hard and had a difficult journey to reach this stage,” Matola said. “We can’t afford to underestimate them. They are a strong team with clear ambitions, and we must be at our best.”
With both clubs having strong motivation Simba eyeing another trophy and Mbeya City aiming to prove their top-tier potential the clash promises to be intense. Fans can expect an exciting match as these two sides battle for a place in the semifinals of the CRDB Federation Cup.
