The Secretary of the Central Committee (NEC) for Ideology, Propaganda, and Training of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), CPA Amos Makalla, arrived in Lindi Region today, April 10, 2025, as part of his tour across the regions of Lindi and Mtwara.
Upon his arrival, Makalla visited Somanga Mtama in the Kilwa North constituency of Lindi to engage with the local community. His visit was aimed at addressing key developments in the area, particularly focusing on infrastructure.
Before meeting with the residents, Makalla took time to inspect the Somanga Mtama bridge, which had been severely damaged, causing a disruption in communication along the important Dar es Salaam-Lindi road.
The bridge's damage had made it difficult for the community to maintain vital connections, but repairs are currently underway.
During his inspection, Makalla praised the efforts of the Minister of Works, Abdallah Ulega, and Tanroad for their prompt response in restoring communication.
He remarked, “I commend Minister Ulega for his professionalism and swift action in ensuring that communication was restored in such a short time. This is a testament to the government’s commitment to improving the lives of our people.”
Makalla also emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards in infrastructure projects, particularly when public funds are involved.
He encouraged Ulega to continue being vigilant in addressing any negligence and ensuring quality in the construction process.
“We have been entrusted with the responsibility to serve the people,” he said, “and it is essential that every project is completed to the highest standards to ensure its lasting impact on the community.”
In his remarks, Makalla highlighted that over 100 billion shillings had been allocated for the completion of the bridge repairs and other related infrastructure projects. He urged Ulega to ensure that the contractors prioritize quality in their work.
“The funds are sufficient, and it is crucial that these bridges are built with the durability and excellence that the people deserve,” he added.
Makalla is also scheduled to hold a public meeting in Kilwa Masoko, where he will engage further with the residents of the region, discuss ongoing development initiatives, and continue his efforts to strengthen CCM’s relationship with the people.
