Joseph Mhagama leads Tanzania’s delegation to global parliament meeting

 Member of Parliament for Madaba Constituency, Joseph Kizito Mhagama, who also serves as the Chairperson of Tanzanian Parliamentary Representatives to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), is leading the delegation of Members of Parliament from the United Republic of Tanzania to the 150th IPU Assembly, currently taking place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from April 5 to 9, 2025.

At the assembly, Mhagama highlighted the Tanzanian Parliament’s efforts in holding the government accountable and ensuring that it effectively fulfills its responsibilities, particularly in the areas of development and human rights.

The meeting focuses on the role of parliaments in advancing social development and justice, where the Tanzanian Parliament has played a significant role in promoting and enacting legislation aimed at improving citizens' livelihoods.

Mhagama shared key steps that Tanzania has taken to enhance social development and human rights, emphasizing the importance of global parliamentary collaboration to achieve shared goals for sustainable development.

This historic assembly has offered Tanzania an important platform to showcase its contribution to these fundamental issues, while continuing to build stronger governance systems rooted in justice and the development of its people.
