Tanzania hosts Global Oil and Gas Exhibition, attracting over 22 countries

Dar es Salaam— The Auto Expo Africa 2024 exhibition kicked off yesterday October 23, 2024, at the Diamond Jubilee Hall in Dar es Salaam, drawing participation from over 22 countries across the globe. The event, running from October 23 to 25, focuses on the latest advancements in the oil and gas industry.

James Maziku, the Director of Investment Mobilization and Facilitation at the Export Processing Zones Authority (EPZA), officiated the event and highlighted its significance in showcasing cutting-edge technologies that will drive Tanzania's oil and gas sector forward.

"This exhibition displays a wide range of advanced products that provide learning opportunities in oil and gas production. It is a crucial component in the sector's value chain, particularly in distribution," said Maziku.

He further emphasized Tanzania’s potential to become a regional hub for oil and gas production and distribution. Maziku also noted that exhibitions like Auto Expo Africa offer a cost-effective platform for attracting international investors, boosting the country's profile in the global energy market.

"The timing is perfect for expanding our scope of attracting investment from the many nations represented here. Tanzania remains an attractive destination due to our stable investment environment, robust policies, and investor-friendly laws," Maziku added.

He praised Tanzania’s political stability and strong social peace, which continue to foster confidence among foreign investors. He also pointed out that future exhibitions would offer more opportunities for knowledge exchange and economic growth, particularly in technology transfer within the next five years.

Duncan Njage, Group Director of Auto Expo, invited Tanzanians to explore the innovations on display. "This exhibition presents numerous technologies for oil and gas production and processing, providing a unique opportunity for local stakeholders to experience the latest in industry advancements," said Njage.

Maziku also reassured participants that Tanzania's investment policies remain transparent and aligned with national regulations concerning the environment, land, labor, and health. He stressed that the country is well-positioned to absorb the technologies exhibited and integrate them into its growing energy sector.
