Vodacom Tanzania has officially launched new customer service centers, known as Vodacom Repair Centres, dedicated to repairing and servicing mobile phones. This new service was unveiled today, September 25, 2024, at the Vodacom offices in Mlimani City, Dar es Salaam.
George Mgata, Head of Sales and Distribution, emphasized that this service aims to make it easier for customers to access repair solutions. Acting in place of Vodacom Tanzania's Managing Director, Filipo Simile, Mgata announced that all Vodacom customers who have purchased mobile phones linked to this service will receive free repairs without any additional charges.
Mgata, who also serves as the acting Business Director, stated that Vodacom is the first company to establish such customer repair centers for mobile devices and other gadgets. "In our efforts to ensure that Tanzanians have access to smartphones, we have been attentive to customer complaints about damaged devices, often finding a lack of trusted technicians for their beloved phones," he said.
The new service has been approved by six mobile companies, including Tele One, Samsung, Vivo, Oppo, Ona, and Motorola. “We are starting with 11 centers nationwide and will continue to improve and expand them over time,” added Mgata.
Vodacom has been a leader in introducing new services for its customers, including repair centers, affordable smartphone sales, and high-speed 5G internet services. “If a device is under warranty and the damage falls within warranty terms, there will be no charges for the customer,” he noted.
Mgata also advised customers whose devices have been damaged, whether due to user error or expired warranties, that they can have their devices repaired at a low cost, according to technician guidelines.
Engineer Emmanuel Bakari Maeja, Managing Director of Smash Technologies Ltd, the main sponsor of the repair center service, highlighted that this initiative has been anticipated for a long time to ensure customer safety and the integrity of their purchased devices.
Vodacom customers purchasing devices from the listed companies should look for phones with the repair center logo to benefit from warranty services without extra charges.
“I would like to thank the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Vodacom, and others for providing more job opportunities while bringing positive technological advancements to our country,” added Engineer Emmanuel.
