Zanzibar’s First Vice-President, H.E. Othman Masoud Othman, is expected to be the guest of honour at the Supply Chain, Mobility & Logistics Awards (SML Awards 2026), an event aimed at recognising innovation, excellence and the contributions of stakeholders in the supply chain, transport and logistics sectors.
The ceremony is scheduled to take place on October 23, 2026, at Superdome, Masaki, in Dar es Salaam. It is expected to bring together government leaders, investors and stakeholders from various sectors across Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar.
SML Director Amon John Mtonyi said other leaders expected to attend include Tanzania’s Minister for Transport, Prof. Makame Mbarawa; Zanzibar’s Minister for Transport and Construction, Dr Khalid Salum Mohamed; Zanzibar’s Minister for Trade, Omar Said Shaaban; and Zanzibar’s Minister for Tourism and Antiquities, Dr Nasra Nassor Omar.
The participation of these leaders presents an opportunity to align government policies with private-sector needs, particularly in improving transport systems, enhancing the efficiency of supply chain services and opening up investment opportunities in sectors that contribute to economic growth.
For companies operating in transport, ports, trade, tourism and logistics services, the event could provide a platform for establishing business partnerships, exploring new markets and strengthening relationships with investors and public institutions. Recognising high-performing companies could also promote healthy competition, innovation and improved service standards.
For the wider community, the development of the transport and supply chain sectors is important in facilitating the movement of goods, improving access to services, creating employment and business opportunities, and reducing challenges that can increase the cost of living and the cost of doing business.
However, the benefits of the platform will largely depend on how the relationships established are translated into projects, investments and measurable improvements for businesses and the public.
SML Awards 2026 aims to be more than just an awards ceremony by bringing together stakeholders who can contribute to the development of the transport and supply chain sectors, which play a vital role in facilitating trade, connecting markets and stimulating economic activity.
