The Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism is reviewing its performance for the first three months of the 2026/27 financial year, with monitoring and evaluation specialists meeting to assess implementation of conservation and tourism activities.

The review covers July to September 2026 and is expected to produce a performance assessment report for the ministry and its institutions, providing a basis for tracking progress against planned activities.

Speaking during a quarterly working session in Dodoma, the ministry’s Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, Ms Bure Nassibu, said the meeting would help finalise the report and improve understanding of monitoring and evaluation responsibilities among specialists.

She urged participants to use the session to improve reports from their respective departments, units and institutions, stressing the importance of producing quality information for performance assessment.

The exercise is part of the ministry’s efforts to strengthen monitoring of policies, plans and projects across the natural resources and tourism sectors.

Effective monitoring and evaluation can help identify implementation gaps, assess whether planned activities are being delivered and inform decisions on areas requiring improvement.

The ministry said it was continuing to develop strategies to improve monitoring and evaluation across its institutions, with the aim of strengthening staff performance and the management of its responsibilities.

However, the ministry’s statement did not provide details of the achievements recorded during the quarter, implementation challenges identified or the targets against which performance would be measured.
