The Tanzania Fertiliser Regulatory Authority (TFRA) has visited Msipazi Farm in Nkasi District, Rukwa Region, to learn about modern farming technologies aimed at increasing crop yields, improving productivity and reducing production costs.
The visit, led by TFRA Executive Director Joel Laurent on October 13, 2026, was part of activities marking World Fertiliser Day and focused on promoting effective farming practices and the proper use of agricultural inputs.
During the visit, the delegation met farmer Salum Sumry, who emphasised the importance of soil testing in determining the nutrients required for specific crops.
Sumry explained that testing soil helps farmers understand its condition and identify the appropriate nutrients needed to improve crop growth and production.
TFRA stressed the importance of using quality fertilisers according to crop type, growth stage and soil conditions, noting that proper application of agricultural inputs can increase yields and help farmers avoid unnecessary expenses.
The authority said the visit was part of its efforts to strengthen farmers’ knowledge and raise awareness of opportunities within Tanzania’s fertiliser industry, particularly for young people and women.
The initiative also seeks to encourage innovation and sustainable farming practices that can improve agricultural production, reduce costs and support the livelihoods of farming communities.
