For small-scale miners, the indicative prices can help inform sales negotiations and improve their understanding of how international market values translate into domestic buying prices. However, the published figures are reference rates and should not automatically be interpreted as the final amount payable for every mineral consignment.
Actual proceeds may depend on factors such as mineral purity, weight, applicable charges and the terms of a particular transaction.
The Mining Commission publishes indicative mineral prices through its official platforms as part of the framework governing mineral trading in Tanzania.
The latest figures highlight the importance of transparent pricing in a sector that contributes to export earnings, government revenue and livelihoods in mining communities.
