The Office of the Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner has issued a clarification regarding a video circulating on social media quoting the Regional Commissioner, Hon. Albert Chalamila, in remarks concerning drivers.
The Office explained that the video was circulated in an edited form, ending midway through his remarks, and therefore presenting an incomplete interpretation of the message he delivered.
In the full video, the Regional Commissioner issued instructions and a warning to drivers regarding their responsibility to comply with established procedures and lawful directives issued by authorities, particularly at bus terminals.
He emphasized that drivers are responsible for their conduct while operating vehicles and that following instructions from an employer or vehicle owner in violation of established procedures does not absolve them of their legal responsibilities.
The Office of the Regional Commissioner urges members of the public and social media users to consider the full video and complete information before interpreting or drawing conclusions about statements made by public officials, in order to avoid misinformation that may result from circulating video clips without their proper context.
