Vodacom Tanzania has highlighted the growing role of digital connectivity, innovation and entrepreneurship in supporting Tanzania’s Development Vision 2050.
The company made the remarks during Tanzania Innovation Week (IWTz) 2026, which brought together innovators, entrepreneurs, policymakers, investors, young people and other stakeholders to discuss the role of innovation in driving inclusive economic growth.
The event was held under the theme, “From Aspirations to Transformation: Charting Tanzania’s Path to Inclusive Prosperity.”
Vodacom participated in discussions on the creator economy, online platforms, digital innovation and cybersecurity, highlighting the importance of connectivity in expanding opportunities in education, business and creativity.
Speaking during a panel discussion on content creators and online platforms, Vodacom Tanzania Head of Brand and Communications Yvonne Maruma said the value of a telecommunications network extends beyond providing internet access.
She said connectivity creates opportunities for Tanzanians to participate in the digital economy, access information, develop businesses and pursue creative ventures.
“Connectivity has greater value when it enables people to access opportunities in education, business and innovation,” Ms Maruma said.
Through initiatives such as Vodacom Youth Base (VYB), the company continues to support young people and content creators by providing access to digital connectivity and tools that enable them to develop and expand their online activities.
The discussions also brought together stakeholders from the media, technology and creative industries to explore ways of strengthening collaboration between content creators and online platforms.
The discussions are particularly relevant as Tanzania advances its digital transformation agenda, with technology expected to play an increasingly important role in economic growth, innovation and job creation under Vision 2050.
Vodacom said its participation in IWTz 2026 reflects its commitment to supporting digital transformation, innovation and the growth of the digital economy in Tanzania.
