The global gold price has reached $4,290.80 per troy ounce, according to mineral indicative prices published by Tanzania’s Mining Commission on Friday, highlighting continued strength in the precious metals market.
The commission’s September 25, 2026 figures show the world market price of gold at TZS366,761.42 per gram, while the indicative mineral market price was set at TZS330,085.28 per gram.
Buying centres were directed to use an indicative price of TZS322,750.05 per gram for gold.
The figures provide a reference for transactions involving gold produced and traded in Tanzania, with the buying-centre price lower than the international benchmark after accounting for applicable market factors.
The commission also published indicative prices for silver and copper, reflecting movements in the international metals market.
For silver, the world market price stood at $63.92 per troy ounce, equivalent to TZS5,463.64 per gram.
The indicative mineral market price for silver was TZS4,917.28 per gram, while the buying-centre price was TZS4,808 per gram.
Copper was quoted at $6.70 per pound on the world market, equivalent to TZS39.27 per gram. The indicative mineral market price was TZS35.34 per gram, while buying centres were given a reference price of TZS34.56 per gram.
The publication of the prices comes as Tanzania continues to strengthen oversight of mineral trading and increase the contribution of the mining sector to the economy.
The Mining Commission regularly publishes indicative mineral prices to provide reference points for mineral transactions and promote transparency in the sector.
The latest figures also show the significant gap between international benchmark prices and the prices used in domestic mineral trading, underscoring the role of market adjustments and trading costs in determining the value received by mineral producers.
