The Ministry of Energy has addressed issues identified in a previous public service compliance audit, according to the Public Service Commission (PSC), which has completed its latest review of the ministry.
PSC Commissioner Omari Kitenge said the ministry had complied with policies, laws, regulations and procedures governing public service administration.
He made the remarks on September 14, 2026, during an exit meeting between the commission and the ministry’s management at the ministry’s offices in Mtumba, Dodoma.
The meeting marked the conclusion of a compliance audit conducted by the commission to assess how the ministry was implementing public service laws and procedures.
Mr Kitenge said the ministry had also acted on all issues raised during the commission’s previous audit in 2023.
He said the action demonstrated the ministry’s commitment to addressing weaknesses identified through the review and improving compliance with public service requirements.
“The ministry has shown commitment to implementing its responsibilities in accordance with the guidelines and procedures governing the public service,” he said.
The review covered the ministry’s implementation of policies, laws, regulations and procedures governing public servants.
Speaking during the meeting, the representative of the Permanent Secretaries, Mr Petro Lyatuu, said the audit had helped the ministry identify areas requiring improvement.
He thanked the commission for conducting the exercise, saying its findings would help the ministry strengthen its systems and ensure that its operations complied with public service requirements.
“The exercise helps us identify areas where there are challenges and address them so that the implementation of our responsibilities continues in accordance with the guidelines and procedures governing the public service,” he said.
The compliance review is part of the commission’s oversight role in ensuring that government institutions adhere to laws and procedures governing public service management.
For the Ministry of Energy, compliance is intended to strengthen administration and support the effective implementation of its responsibilities, including programmes aimed at improving access to and reliability of energy services.
