The Dodoma Regional Government has extended financial support to traders whose businesses were destroyed by a fire at the Machinga Complex market, as efforts to restore trading activities continue.
Dodoma Regional Commissioner Rosemary Senyamule handed over Sh500,000 as a token of support to traders affected by the blaze.
Ms Senyamule, who was accompanied by Dodoma District Commissioner Jabir Shekimweri, said the government would continue supporting the affected traders as they work to resume their businesses.
She said the authorities would also work to create a conducive environment for traders to rebuild their livelihoods while rehabilitation of the market continues.
The fire caused losses to traders operating at the market, disrupting businesses and leaving some traders facing challenges in restarting their operations.
“The government will continue supporting these traders and creating a conducive environment for them to resume their business activities,” Ms Senyamule said.
The support comes as authorities continue addressing the impact of the fire and working on measures to facilitate the restoration of the affected market.
For many small-scale traders, the market is a key source of income, making the restoration of business activities important to their livelihoods.
