Tanzania Prisons athlete Insp Catherine Lange secured another podium finish at the BAMMATA 2026 Athletics Championships on Friday, taking third place in the women’s 5,000 metres at CCM Kirumba Stadium.
Lange’s latest result came a day after she also finished third in the women’s 10,000m, maintaining her strong showing in the long-distance events at the championships.
The 5,000m race, held on September 25, required athletes to complete 12½ laps of the track as competition continued in Mwanza.
Lange, an Inspector of Prisons, has emerged as one of the notable performers in the distance races, producing back-to-back third-place finishes in two demanding events.
Her performance in the 5,000m adds another podium finish to her campaign as athletes continue to compete for honours at the championships.
