Young Africans Sports Club (Yanga) strengthened their grip on the early NBC Tanzania Premier League standings after a convincing 4-1 victory over Coastal Union at KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam on Thursday, August 20, 2026.
Yanga produced a dominant display, controlling much of the game and making the most of their chances to secure a second consecutive victory.
Albert Kagwanda opened the scoring in the 39th minute, giving Yanga the breakthrough they needed after a closely contested opening period.
The hosts then struck again in first-half stoppage time, with Maxi Nzengeli finding the net in the 45+3rd minute to give Yanga a 2-0 lead at the break.
Yanga returned from halftime with the same attacking intent and quickly extended their advantage. Mudathir Yahya scored in the 50th minute to put the visitors firmly in command at 3-0.
Coastal Union refused to surrender and pulled one goal back in the 78th minute through Gradi Kiala, briefly offering the possibility of a late fightback.
Yanga, however, remained composed and continued to threaten on the counter. Their efforts were rewarded in the third minute of stoppage time when Mohammed Hussein, popularly known as Zimbwe Jr, scored to complete a 4-1 victory.
The result takes Yanga to six points from two matches, keeping them at the top of the table alongside rivals Simba, who have also collected maximum points from their opening two games.
Yanga currently lead the standings on goal difference, setting up an early contest at the top of the table as the two giants seek to establish themselves in the title race.
For Coastal Union, the defeat leaves the side with work to do as it seeks to recover from a difficult start and collect points in its upcoming league fixtures.
