Young Africans Sports Club (Yanga) has approved a TZS 36.01 billion budget for the 2026/27 season, underlining its ambitions to maintain competitiveness both domestically and in continental football.
The budget was endorsed during the club’s General Assembly held at The Super Dome in Masaki, Dar es Salaam, where members also reviewed the club’s financial performance and strategic direction.
Presenting the financial report, Yanga Finance Director Justina Ernest said the club expects to generate TZS 20.70 billion in revenue during the upcoming season.
She noted that Yanga spent TZS 29.34 billion in the 2025/26 season, with the largest share allocated to player salaries and staff benefits, player transfers and registrations, match preparations, and travel, accommodation and catering expenses.
Despite the substantial expenditure, the club recorded a surplus of TZS 17.5 million at the close of the financial year, reflecting what officials described as prudent financial management.
Addressing members, Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner Albert Chalamila praised Yanga for its continued success and adherence to good governance principles, particularly its commitment to conducting elections in accordance with the club’s constitution.
“I am always delighted when clubs from Dar es Salaam perform well, but Yanga’s victories bring me even greater joy. I commend the club for respecting its constitution and conducting elections on time,” Chalamila said.
Yanga President Eng. Hersi Said used the occasion to thank the club’s leadership, including Vice-President Arafat Haji and members of the Executive Committee, for their support and commitment during his tenure.
He highlighted the club’s achievements over the past four years, describing the period as one of the most successful in Yanga’s recent history.
According to Hersi, the club played 120 Mainland Premier League matches, winning 101, drawing 12 and losing only seven.
Over the same period, Yanga amassed 315 points, scored 286 goals and conceded 51, resulting in a goal difference of 235.
Beyond achievements on the field, Hersi said the club had strengthened its asset base by securing title deeds for three key properties, including the Jangwani training facility and a commercial building on Mafia Street in Kariakoo, Dar es Salaam.
The meeting concluded with a symbolic gesture as Hersi presented Chalamila with an official Yanga membership card, a move that drew applause from members attending the assembly.
The approval of the new budget comes as Yanga seeks to build on recent successes and strengthen its position as one of East Africa’s leading football clubs.
