President Samia Suluhu Hassan is set to grace the opening of the Africa50 General Shareholders’ Meeting (GSM) and the Infra for Africa Forum, a high-level gathering expected to position Tanzania at the centre of Africa’s infrastructure investment agenda.

The two-day event, scheduled for August 5 and 6, 2026, at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC) in Dar es Salaam, will bring together more than 1,200 delegates from Africa and beyond, including government leaders, investors, financial institutions, Africa50 shareholders, private sector players and development partners.

Minister for Finance Ambassador Khamis Mussa Omar said Tanzania has completed preparations for the meeting in collaboration with Africa50 and various government institutions, assuring delegates of a successful event.

He said the forum presents a strategic opportunity for Tanzania to showcase its investment potential, attract global capital and strengthen partnerships between the public and private sectors in delivering transformative infrastructure projects.

“The meeting will enhance Tanzania’s visibility as a preferred investment destination in East Africa while promoting trade, business tourism and economic growth through increased investment flows,” Ambassador Khamis said.

The minister said the meeting comes as Africa50 marks a decade since it began operations in 2016, having been established by African governments in partnership with the African Development Bank (AfDB) to bridge the continent’s infrastructure financing gap and accelerate implementation of major development projects.

Tanzania became a shareholder of Africa50 in 2023 under the Class A category, opening new opportunities for the country to access project preparation support, investment partnerships and financing for strategic infrastructure initiatives.

Ambassador Khamis said the partnership has already supported the advancement of several projects in Tanzania, including the development of Mangapwani Port in Zanzibar, the Mini Liquefied Natural Gas (Mini LNG) project, electricity transmission infrastructure and expansion of dialysis services through public-private partnerships.

The Africa50 gathering will be held under the theme “A Decade of Economic Impact: From Ambition to Delivery” and will feature discussions on infrastructure financing, investment opportunities and innovative solutions to accelerate Africa’s economic transformation.

The forum will also include the signing of agreements aimed at supporting the preparation and implementation of infrastructure projects, bringing together policymakers, investors and development partners to explore practical pathways for sustainable growth across the continent.
