Simba SC began their 2026/27 NBC Tanzania Premier League campaign on a positive note after defeating Kagera Sugar 2-0 at Kaitaba Stadium in Kagera Region on Sunday.

The victory gave Simba three points from their opening match and offered an early boost to their ambitions of challenging for the league title.

The visitors broke the deadlock deep into the first half when Ismail Toure scored in the first minute of added time to give Simba a 1-0 lead at the break.

Simba continued to press for a second goal after the restart, with their efforts eventually paying off in the 69th minute when Elie Mpanzu found the back of the net to extend the advantage to 2-0.

Kagera Sugar responded by pushing forward in search of a way back into the match, but Simba's defence remained disciplined and denied the hosts any clear route back into the contest.

The result sees Simba return to Dar es Salaam with maximum points from their first league outing, while Kagera Sugar will have to wait for another opportunity to secure their first points of the campaign.

For Simba, the clean-sheet victory provides an ideal start as the club turns its attention to the challenges ahead in a season expected to demand consistency both at home and away.
