A delegation from the Saudi-Tanzania Business Council on August 18, 2026, visited the offices of the State Mining Corporation (STAMICO) in Dar es Salaam as part of efforts to explore investment opportunities and deepen economic cooperation between Tanzania and Saudi Arabia.
The visit provided the delegation with an opportunity to learn more about STAMICO’s mandate, operations and the investment opportunities available across Tanzania’s mining value chain.
Speaking during the visit, STAMICO Director General Dr Venanсe Mwasse said the corporation plays an important role in developing strategies across the entire mining value chain, from mineral exploration and extraction to processing and marketing.
He said strengthening the value chain was essential to increasing the contribution of the mining sector to the national economy and creating greater opportunities for investment and industrial development.
The delegation was led by the Co-Chairman of the Saudi-Tanzania Business Council, Engineer Abdulrahman Al-Thubaiti, who commended STAMICO for its work and said the visit had provided valuable insights into Tanzania’s mining sector.
Mr Al-Thubaiti said the delegation had also gained a better understanding of Tanzania’s investment environment and policies governing the mining industry.
The delegation later visited the Kigamboni area in Dar es Salaam to assess potential investment opportunities.
The five-day visit by the Saudi-Tanzania Business Council is aimed at identifying investment opportunities and strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries in strategic sectors, including mining, agriculture, energy and manufacturing.
The engagement comes as Tanzania continues to seek investment that can support value addition, industrialisation, job creation and sustainable economic growth across key sectors of the economy.
