Samia appoints new TAFICO Boss, envoy to Malaysia

By Our Reporter

President Samia Suluhu Hassan has appointed Dr Suleiman Peter Kiula as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Tanzania Fisheries Corporation (TAFICO), as the government moves to strengthen leadership in the fisheries sector.

The appointment was announced by Chief Secretary Ambassador Dr Moses Kusiluka, who said Dr Kiula takes over from Mr Shaibu Ramadhan Matessa, who has been assigned other responsibilities.

The changes also include the appointment of Ambassador Major General Mbaraka Naziad Mkeremy as Tanzania’s new Ambassador to Malaysia.

The appointments come at a time when the government is focusing on improving efficiency in public institutions and enhancing Tanzania’s economic and diplomatic engagements.

TAFICO plays a key role in developing the fisheries industry, including promoting investment, improving value addition and supporting the sustainable use of Tanzania’s aquatic resources.

The new leadership is expected to contribute to strengthening the corporation’s role in unlocking opportunities within the blue economy and increasing the contribution of fisheries to the national economy.
