PBZ Bank has pledged to expand its footprint across Tanzania following what it describes as strong business growth in Morogoro, where it began operations in 2024.
The bank said increasing access to financial services remains central to its strategy of supporting entrepreneurship, investment and economic development in the country.
PBZ Credit Facilitation Officer and Morogoro Zone Marketing Manager, Mohamed Kaiza Makame, made the remarks when Deputy Minister for Finance Laurent Deogratius Luswetula visited the bank’s pavilion at the ongoing Nanenane Agricultural Exhibition for the Eastern Zone in Morogoro.
Mr Makame said the lender has recorded encouraging growth in the region over the past two years, driven by rising customer uptake and expanding business activity.
He noted that Morogoro and neighbouring regions have emerged as important markets for the bank, providing opportunities to extend credit and other financial services to individuals and businesses.
“Over the past two years, we have built a strong presence in Morogoro and surrounding regions. The response from customers has been encouraging and gives us confidence to continue expanding our services,” he said.
According to Mr Makame, PBZ intends to broaden its reach to more parts of the country as demand for banking services continues to grow.
Speaking after touring the pavilion, Mr Luswetula said the government would continue strengthening the business and investment environment to support financial institutions and private sector growth.
He noted that a stable and supportive investment climate is essential for improving access to finance, promoting entrepreneurship and sustaining economic expansion.
The deputy minister also called on citizens to play a greater role in environmental conservation, stressing the need for tree planting and responsible management of natural resources.
“Environmental protection is a shared responsibility. We must continue planting trees and conserving our environment for present and future generations,” he said.
The remarks came as government and private sector stakeholders use the Nanenane exhibition to showcase initiatives aimed at boosting productivity, investment and inclusive economic growth.
