Mineral indicative prices for August 20, 2026


The Mining Commission has issued new indicative prices for gold, silver and copper, based on prevailing international market prices as of August 20, 2026.

Gold is trading at US$4,514 per troy ounce, equivalent to TZS 385,619.12 per gram at the world market price. The mineral market price has been set at TZS 347,057.21 per gram, while the buying centre price stands at TZS 339,344.82 per gram.

For silver, the world market price is US$67.18 per troy ounce, translating to TZS 5,739.01 per gram. The mineral market price is TZS 5,165.11 per gram, with the buying centre price set at TZS 5,050.33 per gram.

Copper is trading at US$6.57 per pound on the world market, equivalent to TZS 38.49 per gram. The mineral market price stands at TZS 34.64 per gram, while the buying centre price is TZS 33.87 per gram.

The indicative prices provide a reference for mineral transactions in Tanzania and are intended to guide buyers and sellers in determining prices in the domestic mineral market.

The latest figures also underscore the impact of international commodity prices on Tanzania's mineral trading sector, particularly for precious metals such as gold and silver.

The Mining Commission regularly issues indicative prices to support transparency in mineral trading and help ensure that transactions reflect prevailing market conditions.
