Dar es Salaam has finalized preparations to host more than 1,200 delegates from across Africa and beyond for the Africa50 General Shareholders’ Meeting and the Africa Infrastructure Forum, set to take place on August 5-6 at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC).
The high-profile gathering is expected to bring together heads of state, senior government officials, leaders of financial institutions, investors, private sector executives and development partners to discuss strategies for accelerating infrastructure development and investment across the continent.
Speaking to journalists, Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner Albert Chalamila said President Samia Suluhu Hassan will host the event, which is expected to strengthen Tanzania’s profile as a leading destination for investment and business in Africa.
Among the leaders expected to attend are the Presidents of Senegal, Mozambique and Tanzania, alongside other high-ranking officials and stakeholders from across the continent.
Chalamila said the summit presents a strategic opportunity for Tanzania to showcase its investment potential and highlight the progress made in implementing major infrastructure projects, including the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) and other transformative developments aimed at boosting economic growth and regional connectivity.
“The government has completed all necessary preparations through close collaboration among ministries, security agencies and other stakeholders to ensure delegates receive efficient services from arrival to departure,” he said.
He noted that comprehensive arrangements have been put in place to guarantee smooth transport, security and protocol services for visiting leaders and participants.
He also called on businesses in the hospitality, transport and service sectors to uphold professionalism and offer quality services at fair prices throughout the event.
The Regional Commissioner urged Dar es Salaam residents to extend their renowned hospitality to visitors, maintain cleanliness and observe the law, saying the summit offers another opportunity to reinforce Tanzania’s reputation as a peaceful and reliable host of major international events.
In addition to the official meetings, a dedicated exhibition area will provide local companies and entrepreneurs with an opportunity to showcase their products and services to international investors and business leaders.
The initiative is expected to facilitate new business partnerships, attract investment and expand market opportunities for Tanzanian enterprises.
Africa50, a pan-African infrastructure investment platform, plays a key role in mobilizing capital for transformative projects across the continent.
This year’s meeting is expected to focus on innovative financing mechanisms, public-private partnerships and strategies for closing Africa’s infrastructure gap.
Chalamila stressed that the security of all delegates remains a top priority, expressing confidence that the extensive preparations undertaken by the government and its partners will ensure the summit is conducted in a peaceful, secure and successful environment.
The event is expected to further position Tanzania as a key player in Africa’s infrastructure agenda while creating opportunities to attract new investment and deepen regional economic cooperation.
