Simba SC continued their impressive start to the NBC Tanzania Premier League season with a 2-0 victory over Geita Gold at Meja Jenerali Isamuhyo Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Monday.
The victory was built on goals from influential midfielder Clatous Chama and forward Libasse Gueye, as Simba combined early attacking intent with disciplined defending to secure maximum points.
Chama broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute, putting Simba ahead after the hosts had applied early pressure.
The goal forced Geita Gold to change their approach as they pushed forward in search of an equaliser. However, Simba’s backline remained composed, frustrating the visitors’ attempts to create a clear opening.
Simba went into the half-time break holding a 1-0 advantage.
The second half resumed at a high tempo, with Geita Gold continuing to search for an equaliser while Simba looked increasingly dangerous on the counter as they sought to put the game beyond their opponents.
Their persistence paid off in the 58th minute when Gueye doubled Simba’s lead, giving the hosts a valuable cushion and putting them in a stronger position to control the remainder of the contest.
Geita Gold refused to give up and continued pressing for a way back into the match, but Simba’s defence stood firm as the minutes ticked away.
Despite their late efforts, Geita Gold could not find a breakthrough, with Simba seeing out the match to claim a 2-0 victory.
The result gives Simba another important three points and keeps them firmly among the early contenders as the race for the NBC Tanzania Premier League title gathers pace.
