Simba SC have received a TZS 78.765 million performance bonus from principal sponsor Betway after winning the CRDB Federation Cup, underscoring the growing impact of commercial partnerships in Tanzanian football.
The bonus was presented to Simba Chief Executive Officer Zubeda Sakuru on Thursday in line with the sponsorship agreement between the two parties, which provides financial incentives linked to the club's achievements.
Simba earned the payout after defeating Azam FC in the Federation Cup final at Gombani Stadium in Pemba, Zanzibar, to lift the domestic knockout trophy.
Speaking during the presentation, Betway Marketing Manager Calvin Mhina said the payment demonstrates the company's commitment to rewarding success while encouraging the club to pursue higher honours.
"This bonus is part of our sponsorship agreement. There are even greater incentives tied to future achievements. We want to see Simba continue performing well and make a bigger impact in international competitions," Mhina said.
Simba CEO Zubeda Sakuru welcomed the bonus, describing Betway as a reliable partner that has consistently honoured its commitments since the partnership began last season.
She said the sponsorship has provided the club with additional financial support to strengthen its sporting ambitions and maintain a high level of competitiveness.
"We appreciate Betway's continued commitment to this partnership. Their support strengthens our efforts to achieve the club's objectives, and we remain determined to compete for more trophies in the seasons ahead," Sakuru said.
The latest payout reflects a growing trend in Tanzanian football, where performance-based sponsorship agreements are becoming an important source of revenue, helping clubs invest in competitiveness while rewarding on-field success.
