Police deny fake reports of burning of Police Vehicle in Dar es Salaam

The Dar es Salaam Special Police Zone has urged members of the public to disregard false information circulating on social media claiming that residents had set fire to a police vehicle in Mwenge, Dar es Salaam.

In a statement issued by the police, the reports labeled “WANANCHI WACHOMA MOTO GARI YA POLISI MWENGE DAR ES SALAAM” were described as untrue, misleading, and intended to create unnecessary panic and confusion among the public.

The police clarified that no such incident involving the burning of a police vehicle has occurred in the Mwenge area or any part of Dar es Salaam as alleged in the viral posts.

Authorities further cautioned the public against spreading unverified information, warning that legal and investigative measures are being taken to identify individuals or groups responsible for producing and circulating such false reports.

According to the police, both legal and technical procedures are ongoing to track down those involved in the dissemination of misinformation, with the aim of ensuring they are brought before the relevant legal authorities.

The police have reiterated their commitment to maintaining peace and security in the city, urging citizens to rely only on official communication channels for accurate information.
