Oman Embassy Attaché in Tanzania, Abdulrahman Salim Algaad, has visited the Ngorongoro Conservation Area with his family as part of efforts to promote international awareness of Tanzania’s tourism attractions.
During the visit, Algaad toured various areas within the conservation area and experienced wildlife in their natural habitats, including the Big Five, as well as forests, waterfalls, cultural heritage sites, historical features and the Ngorongoro Heritage Geopark Museum.
Senior Assistant Conservation Commissioner responsible for Tourism Services and Marketing at the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA), Mariam Kobelo, said the visit reflects ongoing efforts by the authority to engage different stakeholders, including diplomatic missions, to increase awareness of Tanzania’s tourism resources.
She said visits by foreign officials and representatives provide an opportunity to strengthen cooperation in tourism and support economic diplomacy initiatives.
“Engagement with different stakeholders continues to be part of our efforts to promote Tanzania’s tourism destinations and build international partnerships,” Kobelo said.
Algaad said the visit provided him with an opportunity to experience Ngorongoro’s natural environment and understand the conservation activities being implemented in the area.
He also recognised the role of conservation measures in maintaining the area’s status as an internationally recognised heritage site.
Ngorongoro is recognised globally for its ecological and cultural importance, holding three international designations, including UNESCO World Heritage Site status.
The NCAA said it will continue working with diplomatic missions and other partners to promote Tanzania’s tourism sector, attract more visitors and strengthen cooperation through tourism-related initiatives.
