The government has invested TZS 2.8 billion in health, road and vocational education projects in Gairo District, Morogoro Region, as part of ongoing efforts to improve access to public services and strengthen local infrastructure.
The investment covers the construction of Chanjale Health Centre, the Confort Pub–Magoweko road, and Kwipipa Vocational School, projects expected to expand healthcare access, improve transport connectivity and increase opportunities for technical skills training.
Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office responsible for Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO-RALG), Prof Riziki Shemdoe, announced the investment on July 17 during a working visit to inspect development projects and assess their implementation in Gairo.
He said the three projects comprise the TZS 680 million Chanjale Health Centre, the TZS 470 million Confort Pub–Magoweko road, and the TZS 1.6 billion Kwipipa Vocational School, describing them as part of the government's efforts to improve the quality of public services at the community level.
"The projects demonstrate the government's commitment to investing in services that directly improve people's lives through better healthcare, transport infrastructure and vocational education," Prof Shemdoe said.
He noted that Kwipipa Vocational School has been designed to provide engineering-related training, helping equip young people with practical skills needed in infrastructure development and other productive sectors of the economy.
Prof Shemdoe urged students to safeguard the school's facilities to ensure they continue serving future generations.
The minister added that the TZS 2.8 billion investment forms part of a broader development programme in Gairo District, which he said has received more than TZS 100 billion for various development projects since President Samia Suluhu Hassan took office.
Gairo Member of Parliament Ahmed Shabiby commended residents of Kwipipa Village for donating land for the construction of the vocational school, saying community participation had played a key role in delivering the project.
He also welcomed the allocation of funds for students' meals, saying the support would help create a more conducive learning environment.
Special Seats MP Josephine Kapoma said the school is expected to contribute to the country's growing demand for skilled technicians and engineers, adding that residents have welcomed the investment because of its potential to expand access to technical and vocational education.
The projects are among several public investments being implemented in Gairo District to improve service delivery and support socio-economic development.
