Finance Minister Ambassador Khamis Mussa Omar has held talks with Stanbic Bank Tanzania executives on strengthening collaboration between the government and the banking sector to support economic growth, investment and financial inclusion.
The meeting brought together Stanbic Bank Board Chairman Patrick Rutabanzibwa, Chief Executive Officer Manzi Rwegasira and Head of Legal Services Eric Rwelamira.
The discussions centred on how closer cooperation between the government and financial institutions could increase the financial sector's contribution to the economy by mobilising investment, expanding access to finance and supporting productive sectors.
The two sides also reviewed Stanbic Bank's strategy to deepen its involvement in key sectors of the economy through financing solutions that support businesses, infrastructure and long-term development priorities.
Stanbic Bank reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with the government in advancing Tanzania's development agenda, including the country's target of becoming a $1 trillion economy by 2050.
The bank said it would continue to provide innovative financial solutions, facilitate investment and support private sector growth to help accelerate economic transformation.
Also present at the meeting were the Ministry of Finance's Commissioner for Financial Sector Development, Dionisia Mjema, Commissioner for Government Debt Management, Japhet Justine, and other senior ministry officials.
