Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office (Regional Administration and Local Government), Prof. Riziki Shemdoe, has expressed satisfaction with the progress made in constructing the Morogoro Regional Commissioner's Office, saying the project is on course to meet the completion timeline he set earlier this year.
During an inspection tour of the project in Morogoro on June 29, 2026, Prof. Shemdoe said the building had reached 90 percent completion, reflecting significant progress since he directed in January that it be completed by July 26, 2026.
The visit formed part of his nationwide follow-up on the implementation of government development projects and compliance with directives issued to regional authorities.
"I am pleased to see the progress made on this building. It has now reached 90 percent completion. I congratulate the Regional Commissioner for closely monitoring the project and the Regional Administrative Secretary for providing effective supervision," Prof. Shemdoe said.
He directed Morogoro Regional Administrative Secretary, Dr. Mussa Ali Musa, to ensure that staff of the Regional Commissioner's Office relocate to the new premises during the first quarter of the 2026/27 financial year.
Prof. Shemdoe said the government had invested Sh6.5 billion in the project, describing it as a major investment aimed at improving public service delivery in Morogoro Region. He thanked President Samia Suluhu Hassan for allocating funds to support the construction.
Morogoro Regional Commissioner Adam Kighoma Malima pledged to implement all directives issued during the visit, stressing that the remaining tasks would be completed before midnight on September 30, 2026.
The Regional Commissioner's Office is being constructed by MCB Company Ltd in collaboration with Mbeya University of Science and Technology, while the project is supervised by the Tanzania Buildings Agency (TBA).
