Young Africans Sports Club (Yanga) has officially parted ways with head coach Pedro Goncalves following their league match against KMC.
The decision was confirmed in an official statement issued by the club’s Chief Executive Officer, Andre Mtine, shortly after the final whistle.
The statement indicated that the club had reached an agreement to terminate Goncalves’ tenure with immediate effect.
In the announcement, the club expressed its appreciation for the work done by the Portuguese coach during his time in charge.
Yanga thanked him for his contribution to the team and wished him success in his future coaching career.
“Yanga SC extends its gratitude to Coach Pedro Goncalves for his service and dedication during his time with the club and wishes him all the best in his future endeavors,” the statement read in part.
Following his departure, assistant coaches Abdihamid Moalin and Patrick Mabedi will take over interim responsibilities.
The duo will manage the technical bench and lead the team in training and upcoming fixtures for the remainder of the season.
However, the club did not disclose the specific reasons behind the decision to end Goncalves’ contract. The statement simply confirmed the separation without further explanation.
The change comes at a critical stage of the season, with Yanga still competing in domestic league action and other competitions.
The leadership transition is expected to influence the team’s preparations as they aim to maintain consistency in performance.
Goncalves had been overseeing the team through a demanding period, guiding Yanga in both local and international assignments.
His departure adds to a series of technical adjustments the club has made in its pursuit of continued success.
Yanga has assured supporters that the team remains focused on its season objectives, with interim coaches expected to stabilize the squad as management considers long-term plans for the technical bench.
