The government has called on the Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO) to accelerate the development of new technologies aimed at improving customer service delivery across the country, as part of ongoing reforms in the energy sector.

The Deputy Minister for Energy, Salome Makamba, said TANESCO must continue conducting research and innovating modern technologies that will make it easier and faster for citizens to access electricity services.

She emphasized that the world is rapidly changing and public institutions must adapt to technological advancements to improve efficiency and reach more people effectively.

Makamba made the remarks while opening the annual meeting of TANESCO Public Relations and Customer Service Officers held in Dodoma.

She said the growing use of digital systems and artificial intelligence presents a major opportunity to improve communication, reduce delays, and address challenges faced by customers when seeking electricity services.

She further directed TANESCO to improve procurement processes for equipment and strengthen customer service centers in order to reduce delays in service delivery.

According to her, these improvements will enhance operational efficiency and ensure citizens receive timely and reliable services.

The Deputy Minister noted that better service delivery will bring satisfaction to citizens who depend on TANESCO’s services every day. She stressed that efficiency and accountability must remain key priorities in the organization’s operations.

Makamba also emphasized the importance of cooperation among different departments within TANESCO, including ICT, distribution, and customer service units.

She said effective service delivery depends on strong teamwork and coordination to ensure that customer complaints are resolved promptly and efficiently.

In addition, she urged officers to continue promoting the use of clean cooking energy through digital platforms and social groups, reaching a wider audience across the country.

She explained that using electricity as a clean energy source is safe, affordable, and contributes significantly to national development and environmental protection.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to supporting innovations in the energy sector as part of efforts to improve public service delivery and expand access to reliable electricity services nationwide.
