The Journalists Association of Social Media Platforms (JUMIKITA) has announced the suspension of all professional cooperation with Madam Rita, following allegations of disrespectful conduct toward a digital media outlet.
The decision was made public on April 20, 2026, through an official statement issued by JUMIKITA Chairperson Shaaban Matwebe on behalf of the association.
According to the statement, the association expressed concern over what it described as inappropriate behaviour involving Madam Rita and a certain online media platform, saying the incident undermines respect and professionalism within the media industry.
JUMIKITA stated that the act in question does not align with accepted ethical standards in journalism and goes against the values of mutual respect that guide engagement between media practitioners and public figures.
The association further noted that journalism plays a critical role in informing the public, strengthening accountability, and supporting democratic communication, and therefore must be treated with dignity by all stakeholders.
Matwebe said the media profession should be respected regardless of differences between individuals and institutions, adding that any conduct perceived to undermine the credibility or dignity of media practitioners is unacceptable.
In its resolution, JUMIKITA declared that it will suspend cooperation with Madam Rita until she publicly issues an apology to both the affected media house and the general public.
The association emphasized that the decision is aimed at promoting discipline, professionalism, and respect within the media sector, particularly in the growing digital communication space where interactions are increasingly direct and immediate.
JUMIKITA reaffirmed its commitment to protecting journalistic integrity and encouraging responsible engagement among media stakeholders, saying cooperation must always be guided by ethics, respect, and accountability.
The statement was issued by the Journalists Association of Social Media Platforms (JUMIKITA).
