Former Presidential Candidate for the National League for Democracy (NLD), Doyo Hassan Doyo, has expressed confidence in the Commission led by Judge Chande that is investigating incidents of violence reported during and after Tanzania’s General Election held on October 29, 2025.
Doyo said he believes the Commission has the capacity to carry out its work effectively and produce findings that reflect what actually happened during the election period.
He added that the process is important for addressing public concerns and strengthening trust in national institutions.
He noted that his confidence is based on the composition of the Commission, which includes experienced professionals such as retired judges, former government ministers, and senior retired security officials.
According to him, this combination of expertise provides the Commission with the knowledge and credibility needed to handle a sensitive national assignment.
Doyo said Tanzanians expect a clear and fair report that will help explain the causes of the reported incidents and provide recommendations to prevent similar situations in the future.
He stressed that such a report would be important in promoting peace, stability, and confidence in the country’s democratic processes.
He further called for transparency and independence in the Commission’s work, saying it should be allowed to operate without interference so that its findings can serve the interests of all citizens.
The Commission under Judge Chande was established to examine the circumstances surrounding the reported election-related violence, including its causes, impact, and possible solutions to improve future electoral processes.
Doyo expressed hope that the outcome of the investigation will contribute to strengthening national unity and improving the conduct of future elections in Tanzania.
