The Ministers responsible for Water in mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar, Jumaa Aweso (MP) and Nadir Abdullatif Al-Wardy, have pledged to enhance collaboration in managing the country’s water sector, placing a strong emphasis on modern technology adoption.

Speaking during a recent meeting, Aweso highlighted the importance of embracing technological innovations to transform the sector.

He stressed the adoption of prepaid water meters as a key step toward improving efficiency, accountability, and service delivery.

The discussions also focused on applying technology in water treatment, particularly in regions where groundwater contains high levels of salt, a move aimed at ensuring safe and reliable water access for all communities.

Al-Wardy commended Aweso’s leadership, noting the confidence President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has placed in him, and expressed optimism about closer cooperation between the two governments in the water sector.

The agreement marks a significant step toward leveraging technology to address water challenges and improve service delivery across Tanzania and Zanzibar.
