Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) Commissioner General, Mr. Yusuph Juma Mwenda, today received five trophies from TRA sports teams that triumphed in the Federation of Public Organizations, Government Institutions, and Private Companies Sports Tournament (SHIMMUTA), which concluded on December 6.
Receiving the awards at TRA headquarters in Dar es Salaam, Mr. Mwenda praised the teams for their outstanding performance.
He urged them to leverage sports as a platform to encourage voluntary tax compliance among citizens.
“Sports not only build teamwork and discipline but also offer an opportunity to promote public awareness on the importance of paying taxes voluntarily,” Mr. Mwenda said.
He added that TRA’s Board of Directors has recently approved an internal sports policy designed to coordinate sporting activities across the authority and strengthen initiatives that motivate taxpayers to meet their obligations willingly.
